Texas’s natural gas production set record highs this spring as the state’s oil production remained at strong levels, reinforcing “Texas’ central role in powering the U.S. and global economies,” according to a report released Monday by the Texas Oil & Gas Association.

Texas ed for 42.2% of total U.S. crude oil production and 29.2% of the U.S.-marketed natural gas production between January and May, according to the group’s June 2025 “Monthly Energy Economics Review.”

The group estimated Texas crude oil production remained steady at 5.7 million barrels per day last month, while natural gas gross withdrawals increased to 36.9 billion cubic feet per day, with marketed production reaching a record 34.4 billion cubic feet per day. Natural gas liquids production remained at 4.0 million barrels per day.

“Texas consistently sets the standard for energy leadership,” TXOGA president Todd Staples said in a news release. “With abundant natural resources, top-tier infrastructure, and an ongoing commitment to innovation and improvement, this industry reliably delivers for families, communities, and our trading partners at home and across the globe.”
