Update:
This story was updated Jan. 30, 2025, at 9:19 a.m. to reflect Nusr-Et's closure in Dallas is permanent.
A spokesperson confirmed to The Dallas Morning News the restaurant is closed permanently. A Nusr-Et in Las Vegas has also recently closed; that one is reportedly temporary, according to a company statement.

CultureMapreported the Dallas closure. Perhaps we’d all been waiting for it. Turkish butcher and steakhouse founder Nusret Gökçe opened restaurants at a rapid pace over the years, appearing at the grand openings to slice steaks and sprinkle salt with flair. In a Dallas Morning News article, I suggested the best time to visit Nusr-Et was when its dramatic namesake was in town, if only for the bizarre but fun spectacle. And alas, he was gone in an instant.
“I mean, geez,” I asked, “will we have to saltour own steaks?”

Without the sunglasses-wearing frontman, Nusr-Et remained open. At the start, it sold bottles of Dom Perignon for $1,100, tomahawk steaks for $275 and gold-crusted baklava for $75.
That same tomahawk was most recently available for $950, crusted in 24-karat edible gold, according to the Dallas menu still on the website. That’s a deal: At the 2021 opening, a gold-crusted tomahawk cost $1,100.
“We’re all left to wonder what happens to Nusr-Et in a year. Or two or three,” I wrote in 2021. It lasted longer: nearly four.
The restaurant is not taking reservations online in Dallas anymore.
There’s no word of the Dallas closure on Gökçe’s busy Instagram page. His latest project is in Ibiza, Spain.

Nusr-Et steakhouses continue to operate all over the world, in Miami, Las Vegas, New York City, London, Doha, Dubai and more. The newest Nusr-Et will be in Mexico City, according to a statement from the restaurant group on Jan. 29, 2025.
