Grapevine 13, Lubbock-Cooper 8: Grapevine scored seven runs in the sixth inning to rally past Lubbock-Cooper in a Game 2 win Saturday.
The win helps Grapevine advance to the state semifinals for the second straight season.
Luke Esquivel went 2 for 3 with four RBIs, while throwing two strikeouts for Grapevine.
Gianni Corral hit a three-run homer, and Zack Goldstein drove in two with a groundout. Blaine Swartz earned the win in relief, striking out four in two innings.
Wyatt Self hit a solo home run for Lubbock-Cooper, which led 7-3 after four innings.
Aledo 13, Colleyville Heritage 2: Aledo exploded for eight runs in the second inning, highlighted by Blake Burdine’s three-run double and Brooks Burdine’s two-run single, to rout Colleyville Heritage.
Luke Sandefur earned the win, allowing two runs in 4 ⅓ innings with five strikeouts. Ryan Kelly went 2 for 3 for Heritage, while Aledo’s offense piled up 10 hits and 11 stolen bases. Burdine brothers combined for four RBIs in the victory.
