Pryor said officers found that a Toyota Frontier pickup truck heading south on Second Avenue was hit by a northbound vehicle, driven by Jackson, that crossed into the oncoming lane while racing another vehicle. According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Jackson, driving a Ford Fusion, was traveling over 60 mph on the roadway with a speed limit of 30 mph.
Jackson crashed head-on into the pickup truck, causing it to flip over, according to the affidavit.
The pickup’s driver, identified by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office as 59-year-old Jose Ambrocio Medina Soto, died at the location, officials said. Dallas Fire-Rescue officials responded to the scene and “found no signs of life” for Soto, who remained “lodged in his overturned vehicle,” the affidavit said.
Jackson was taken to a hospital in stable condition and then arrested, according to police. She had to be extracted from the driver’s seat, the affidavit said, and suffered a broken pelvis, ankle and other injuries.
