Man shot, killed by Plano police after ‘firing weapon’ at them Wednesday night

Officers were initially responding to a call at the location about a woman being shot, according to police.

A 37-year-old man was shot and killed Wednesday night by a Plano police officer during a confrontation, department officials said.

At about 9:15 p.m., officers responded to a call about a disturbance at a residence on Ridgewood Circle, according to a news release from Plano police. The person who made the call said a woman had been shot at the home.

When officers arrived at the scene, they were “confronted by an adult male suspect” outside the home who fired a weapon at them, police said in the statement. An officer returned fire and struck the suspect.

The man, identified by police as Juan Jose Rivera-Robles, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
