A line of storms were moving into the Dallas-Fort Worth region Tuesday night, bringing the chance for heavy rain, hail, gusty winds and lightning.
The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Denton County that extends until 11 p.m.
The weather service also placed several counties under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch, including Collin, Dallas, Ellis, Johnson, Kaufman, Rockwall and Tarrant until 2 a.m. The storms were not expected to arrive until after midnight.
The unsettled weather is a result of a system that made its way into North Texas Tuesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office.
The greatest chance of rain in the D-FW area, however, is overnight. Precipitation is expected to linger Wednesday as the storms make their way out of the area.
Isolated severe storms were possible Tuesday afternoon, primarily for the western edge of the region as the cluster of storms moves in from that direction. The system will continue moving eastward, bringing the greatest risk of severe storms to the metro area in the early hours of Wednesday from 12 to 4 a.m.

In that period, Dallas-Fort Worth is expected to receive 1-2 inches of rain, the weather service said. Strong winds, hail and flooding are all also possible hazards of the overnight system.
Rain chances will continue Wednesday as the storms exit the region. The highest chance of rain for the metro area will be before 1 p.m.
A low chance of rain will also be present Thursday.
