North Texans may be glad for the week of storms to finally , but the departure of wet weather is bringing in some true summer temperatures.
The pattern starts to shift Friday in Dallas-Fort Worth with a high of 91 degrees, an almost 10-degree jump from Thursday. The National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office also forecast that the humidity will make it feel even hotter, with a projected “feels like” temperature up to 100.
That extremely high humidity will continue into Saturday. The high may only be forecast to be 93 degrees, but the moisture in the air will drive the heat index up to 105. The humidity is forecast to taper off slightly Sunday, allowing the same high of 93 to have a “feels like” temperature of 102.
Either way, a sticky Father’s Day weekend is in store for North Texas. It comes on the heels of a rainy pattern, which dropped significant water to the south and east of the metro area. Much of that area saw 4 to 6 inches, with some spots even reporting over 8 inches.
Heavy rain lead to flash flooding across much of the region over the last couple of days, with the worst of the impacts last night. A few of the highest rain reports range from 5 to just over 8 inches. #dfwwx #ctxwx #txwx pic.twitter.com/aNOlTFOL3y
