Myles Garrett won’t be leaving Cleveland after all.
Garrett and the Browns agreed to a four-year contract extension that’ll keep the rusher in Cleveland through 2030, the team announced Sunday. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Garrett’s new deal averages $40 million per year and includes $123.5 million in guaranteed money. Garrett, an Arlington Martin product and former Texas A&M star, is now the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league’s history.

Garrett had requested a trade from Cleveland in February. According to a statement shared by the defensive end, Garrett wanted to better position himself for a run at a Super Bowl. Garrett’s new deal reportedly includes a no-trade clause.
The Browns originally landed Garrett as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft. Since then, he has become one of the NFL’s top rushers and holds the franchise record with 102.5 career sacks.
Garrett’s agreement comes a few days after Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby (a former Colleyville Heritage star) agreed to a three-year, $106.5 million extension with Las Vegas. As of Wednesday, Crosby was the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history with an average salary of $35.5 million.
Could Garrett’s new deal have an impact on the Cowboys’ negotiations with star rusher Micah Parsons? The clock is ticking in Dallas.
