With general manager Howie Roseman running the show, the Philadelphia Eagles have been lauded for their aggressive free agency approach in recent years.
Their moves paid off last season as they came away with a Super Bowl title. As a new offseason rolls on, the Eagles haven’t made the number of splashy gs they did a year ago. They have, however, made moves to keep their championship roster intact.
Examples include making Saquon Barkley the NFL’s highest-paid running back and agreeing to a new three-year deal with All-Pro linebacker Zack Baun.
Below, we’ll break down Philadelphia’s free agency moves and how they may impact their 2025 NFL draft needs:
Philadelphia Eagles’ 2025 free agency moves
In: LB Azeez Ojulari, RB A.J. Dillon, TE Harrison Bryant, LB Joshua Uche, CB Adoree’ Jackson, OL Matt Pryor, OT Kendall Lamm, TE Kylen Granson, KR/PR Avery Williams, OLB Patrick Johnson, LS Charley Hughlett, OL Kenyon Green (through trade with HOU) and QB Dorian Thompson Robinson (through trade with CLE).
Out: DE Brandon Graham (retired), CB Darius Slay, DE Josh Sweat, OL Mekhi Becton, QB Kenny Pickett (trade with CLE), S C.J. Gardner-Johnson (trade with HOU), CB James Bradberry, CB Isaiah Rodgers, RB Kenneth Gainwell, DL Milton Williams, CB Avonte Maddox, OL Fred Johnson, LB Oren Burks, WR Parris Campbell.
Summary: Philadelphia lost a few key veterans this offseason. Graham and Sweat were consistent contributors to the team’s dominant rush, while Slay gave the Eagles an experienced weapon in the secondary. Williams, a former Crowley standout, earned a big payday after one of the most productive seasons of his pro career. Becton stood out on Philly’s dominant offensive line, giving the unit a boost at guard. He inked a two-year deal with the Chargers.
To combat some of their losses, the Eagles went out and signed some experienced names to create depth. With Gainwell heading to Pittsburgh, Dillon could take over as Barkley’s backup. After some struggles in Houston, Green could bounce back by lining up with some impact players on the Philadelphia OL. The Eagles also addressed their backup quarterback spot, acquiring Thompson-Robinson in a trade that sent Pickett to Cleveland.
Philadelphia Eagles’ 2025 NFL draft outlook
As we mentioned above, Philadelphia didn’t make too many splashy additions this offseason. Although they pick last in this year’s first round, the Eagles could address some of their weaker spots through the NFL draft.
According to ESPN, Philly’s biggest needs are at safety, defensive tackle and linebacker. With an impact player like Sweat out of the picture, it wouldn’t hurt to throw defensive end in that group.
Key names to watch in the first round could include Alabama LB Jihaad Campbell, Ole Miss DT Walter Nolen, Georgia S Malaki Starks and Boston College DE Donovan Ezeiruaku.
Here’s a look at each of Philadelphia’s 2025 draft picks:
First round: No. 32 overall
Second round: No. 64
Third round: No. 96
Fourth round: No. 134
Fifth round: No. 161 (from Texans)
Fifth round: No. 164 (from Browns)
Fifth round: No. 165 (from Commanders)
