ARLINGTON — Joc Pederson kicked his feet up in the Rangers clubhouse Friday afternoon.
There isn’t much else he can do at the moment.
Three weeks into recovery from a right hand fracture suffered on May 24, Pederson is still two weeks away from even a followup scan on the wrist to see if it is healing without issue. And because of the location of the fracture, close to the wrist t, it prevents him from even doing high impact aerobic activities, such as running. The impact could cause the fracture to enlarge.
“So I walk on the treill,” he said. “It’s really quite boring.”
It’s also left Pederson, 33, wrestling with plenty of frustration. When he was hurt, he was slashing only .131/.269/.238/.507 and must sit on those numbers for nearly two months. In his absence, the Rangers have rotated eight different players through the DH spot. That group has combined for a .237/.303/.389/.692 slash line in the three weeks since Pederson was injured.
